After several years practicing and teaching together, master yoga teachers Mimi Ray and Jessica Lee are offering a very special opportunity for yoga practitioners and teachers to deepen their practice in beautiful Brazil. In March 2015, Mimi and Jessica will be hosting an off-the-beaten path yoga adventure in the northern region of Rio de Janeiro state.
You have the option of a week or two-week yoga retreat OR the month-long teacher training program. You´ll get the best of Brazilian nature by spending half your trip on the pristine beaches and islands of Arraial do Cabo and the other portion in Sana, a protected nature reserve high up in the mountains of the beautiful Atlantic Rainforest.
About the teacher training
Study the poses in practice, movement and alignment principles, anatomy, philosophy, subtle body anatomy, meditation and the history of yoga. Learn the elements of a good class; develop safe and intelligent sequencing strategies and skills.
Opportunities throughout the program to practice teaching and discover your unique voice as a teacher. This 200-hour yoga teacher training meets and exceeds the curriculum standard of Yoga Alliance in all areas of study.

In addition to daily yoga and meditation practice, guests will enjoy guided excursions, massage, delicious vegetarian meals, live music and other cultural treats. This is truly an opportunity to see Brazil in a way few tourists every do! It is also an opportunity to dive deeply into yoga practice and lifestyle in a way few practitioners ever do.
Together, Mimi and Jessica have over 30 years of yoga experience and are both certified yoga teacher trainers. Jessica has been living part-time in Brazil for almost 10 years and is fluent in Brazilian Portuguese. Her knowledge of the area, local customs and off-the-beaten path attractions makes her a wonderful guide. She has been offering yoga and eco-tourism retreats since 2011. Mimi currently teaches at Expressions of Grace Yoga and Seva Yoga in Grand Rapids, MI. She also offers a local teacher training program.
The retreat and teacher training packages are available to individuals, couples and groups. No yoga experience is necessary for the retreats. We are also offering a month-long teacher training March 1-28, 2015. Message us for an information packet.

Our daily schedule may vary because of certain excursions. Also, know you are welcome to participate in as many or few planned activities as you like.

The retreat is guided by Jessica Lee and Mimi Ray who have a combined 30+ years yoga teaching and practice. Jessica is an American who has been living in this area of Brazil for 8 years. This is a huge benefit of this retreat because Jessica not only speaks Brazilian Portuguese fluently but also knows the land, cultures and where to go (and not to go!) Jessica is trained in Vinyasa Yoga, Hatha Yoga and Ashtanga Yoga. She also leads the kirtan and sacred sound group Surya Gita who will play live and lead kirtans during the retreat. Mimi comes from Grand Rapids, MI and is known there as one of the most knowledgeable and joyful yoga teachers around! She is trained in Anusara Yoga and Hatha Yoga and is also a Feng Shui practitioner and consultant.
