May 10, 2015 at Palace Theatre, Manchester in Manchester.
Originally performed at The Forum Theatre in 2014. NK Theatre Arts is proud to present for ONE NIGHT ONLY the return of our award winning production of the Original Rock Opera with personal permission from Roger Waters.
Devised and written by Pete Curran, this innovative new show is based on the 1979 concept album “The Wall” and the story of “Pink”, a character based on Roger Waters himself.
“The Wall” is a rock opera that explores abandonment and isolation, symbolized by a metaphorical wall.
The songs create an approximate storyline of events in the life of the central character, Pink, a character based on Roger Waters whose father was killed during the Second World War. Pink is oppressed by his overprotective mother, and a tough time at school back in the 1950s. Each of these traumas becomes metaphorical “bricks in the wall”.
Pink eventually becomes a rock star, his relationships marred with difficulty and eventual loss, drug misuse, and outbursts of violence.
As his marriage crumbles, he finishes building his wall, completing his isolation from human contact. We then see Pink work his way through his demons, eventually putting himself on “trial”.
Songs include the number one single, Another Brick in the Wall, Comfortably Numb, Run Like Hell and In the Flesh to name but a few.
